Summary: Ms D complained how the Council, and the care provider it commissioned, handled matters when her brother’s bathroom required major repairs. She also complained the Council delayed carrying out a review of her brother’s care and support plan. We find fault with how the care provider handled the repair issues. We also find the Council was at fault for its delay in carrying out a review of the care and support plan. The Council has agreed to our recommendations to address the injustice caused by fault.

Summary: Mr X complained about the Council’s decision to suspend him from the Homes for Ukraine Scheme and that it failed to properly investigate safeguarding concerns he raised about the family he sponsored. There was no fault in the way the Council decided to suspend Mr X from the scheme or in the way it investigated the safeguarding concerns he raised. It was at fault for the delay in investigating the concerns raised about Mr X, and in not communicating with him about this, or about the decision to suspend him from the scheme, earlier. It has agreed to apologise to Mr X and review its procedures.

Summary: The Council has already accepted fault for delay investigating Mr X’s reports of anti-social behaviour and delay dealing with his complaint. The remedy it offered in response to the complaint, an apology and symbolic payment, is suitable to remedy the injustice caused. There was no fault in the Council’s investigation of the ASB or its decision not to take action against the alleged perpetrators.

She said the Council had failed to stick to deadlines and her son has been out of education. We find the Council was at fault. This cause significant distress to Miss X and her son missed out on education. The Council has agreed to make several recommendations to address this injustice caused by fault.
