Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 31-Mar-2021

Summary: Ms X complains about the way she was treated when she went to register the birth of her child. We will not investigate the complaint because it is unlikely we can add to the investigation already carried out by the Council and an investigation is unlikely to lead to a different result.

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 30-Mar-2021

Summary: We will not investigate Miss B’s complaint that the Council failed to ensure her personal information was not shared. This is because it is unlikely we could add anything to the investigation the Council has already carried out.

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 29-Mar-2021

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s handling of two personal data breaches. This is because this is a matter best considered by the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Summary: Mrs X complains about an advertisement placed by a company which works with the Council for a competition to design a mural for a building that had not at that time been granted planning permission. Mrs X is concerned that due process is not being followed. We will not investigate as Mrs X is not caused a significant personal injustice from her complaint.

  • London Borough of Barnet (20 000 880)

    Statement Upheld Other 17-Mar-2021

Summary: Ms X complained the Council repeatedly failed to make reasonable adjustments to how it communicates with her. Despite saying it would communicate by email it has sent letters by post and telephoned her causing significant distress. While the Council has taken further action to ensure staff are aware of the agreed reasonable adjustments and do not make further errors the Council, issues are still occurring. So further recommendations have been made so the Council keeps to the agreed reasonable adjustments.

  • North Yorkshire County Council (20 013 092)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 17-Mar-2021

Summary: Mr X complains about the use of public funds for an advert in the media by the Council about local government reform. Mr X complains the advert was biased and could influence the consultation process which could result in the loss of his role as an elected representative. We cannot investigate as this affects all or most of the people in the Council area. The personal injustice specific to Mr X relates to his position as a member of the Council and so we cannot investigate.

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 16-Mar-2021

Summary: We will not investigate Miss B’s complaint that the Council wrongly shared her personal data when it sent letters for her to properties she rents to tenants. This is because Miss B may complain to the Information Commissioner, which is in the best position to consider the matter. Also, it is reasonable for Miss B to put in a claim for compensation to the county court.
