How to contact us

Every year the LGO deals with over 18,000 complaints about local councils. Some of these complaints are made either directly by children and young people, or on their behalf by a parent, carer, or advocate.

We have special Investigators to deal with complaints from children and young people. They will ensure that you are provided with the help and support you need to make your complaint and take your views into account throughout their investigation. Click here for more details on how we do our investigations.

To make a complaint you can fill in a complaint form on-line. It may help if you look at the making a complaint section of this website first. Or you can phone one of our advisers on 0300 061 0614 or 0845 602 1983 who can answer any questions you have and take down your complaint over the phone, if you wish. (Please note that calls may be recorded for training and quality purposes). You can also text 'call back' to 0762 480 3014.

For more information about the kind of complaints we deal with and examples of cases where we have helped see our Casebook: Children and young people. We also have a leaflet Complaints by children and young people - How we can help for advocates and advisers. (See 'downloads' box on the right of this screen.)
