How key appointments are made

The Ombudsmen are appointed by Her Majesty the Queen, on the recommendation of the Government. There is a public advertisement and selection process organised by the Department for Communities and Local Government.

The other senior posts are the Deputy Ombudsmen and the Secretary to the Commission. Posts are advertised nationally, and the selection process includes assessment by testing and interview.

For less senior, but key appointments, there is normally a national advertisement followed by assessment by testing and interview.
