Staff not moving their main residence

The following allowances will be made to staff, including home-based workers, who do not need to change their main private residence.

  • Where the time taken to travel to work at the new location exceeds the time to travel to work at the original location, the difference in travel time of up to one hour a day will be regarded as worked time for a period of 12 months from the date when staff start work at the new office.
  • The Commission will be prepared to compensate them for excess travel cost for a period of up to four years from the date when staff start work at the new office. These travel expenses will be taxable.
  • The Commission will continue paying London salaries to staff moving from the London office for 24 months at full rate and a further 24 months at half rate from the date when the staff member started work at the new office.
