Possible outcomes

The Ombudsman is required to issue a statement whether he decides to initiate, discontinue, or to complete an investigation, and what the outcome is.

The Ombudsman must send that statement to you and to the school. Where a complaint is upheld and the school has yet to put things right, the Ombudsman may set out a number of recommendations for the school to consider before responding. The Ombudsman may decide – in cases where schools do not comply with the recommendations made – to refer the matter to the Secretary of State and ask that a school is directed to comply.
