Special educational needs Maladministration causing injustice

‘Miss Ash’ complains about the lack of educational provision by the London Borough of Wandsworth for her son, ‘Scott’, who has special educational needs.
The Ombudsman’s investigation found that no action was taken to address Scott’s non-attendance at school between November 2001 and March 2003. No alternative educational provision was made for him elswhere. Scott was out of school for the whole of this period.
Between March and September 2003 there was further failure to provide Scott with education, and the provision that started in September 2003 was not maintained so that he received insufficient education until May 2004 when some support was forthcoming from the NHS.
The Ombudsman finds maladministration causing injustice and the Council has agreed to follow his recommendations for an appropriate remedy. The Council will:
